About Maipha

Practical Support for Parents of Children with SEND

Maipha was created to support parents navigating the everyday realities of raising a child with special educational needs and disabilities.

Parenting a child with SEND can feel overwhelming, isolating, and exhausting — especially when support feels hard to access. Maipha exists to make practical, prevention-focused support available in real community spaces.

Our Focus

We deliver practical parent workshops designed to help families:

• Manage meltdowns calmly
• Reduce stress and prevent burnout
• Build simple, predictable routines
• Strengthen communication at home
• Feel more confident in daily parenting

Our sessions are delivered in community venues, libraries, schools, and online — keeping support accessible and realistic.

Our Approach

At Maipha, we believe that behaviour is communication.

Meltdowns, shutdowns, and emotional outbursts don’t happen “for no reason.” They often reflect overwhelm, sensory overload, anxiety, or unmet needs.

Our workshops help parents:

• Understand how their child’s brain works
• Recognise what may be happening beneath behaviours
• Respond calmly instead of reacting in frustration
• Prevent meltdowns where possible
• Reduce their own stress and burnout

When parents understand what’s behind the behaviour, relationships improve.
And when relationships improve, children feel safer and more regulated.

Who We Support

We primarily support:

• Parents and carers of children with SEND
• Community organisations hosting parent sessions
• Schools looking to support families beyond the classroom

Our Vision

We envision communities where parents of children with SEND feel:

• Confident
• Supported
• Equipped
• Understood

Support should not feel complicated — it should feel accessible and empowering.
